Dear member of the Media;
Whether you report for television, radio,newspaper, or a blog, we’re pleased you’ve come to find out more, and we need your help to spread the word and change the language of bullying.
Bullycide is rampant and the people that matter don’t know how to address bullying issues. As recentely as April 29, 2012, Rachel Ehmke, a 13-year-old seventh grader in Mantorville, Minn., died after hanging herself at her home. We ask that you consider bringing awareness to our anti-bullying program, language change and culture change to your audience. Let’s change this cycle.
TheNo Such Thing as a Bully® program contains components for parents and for educators. It doesn’t seek to find and punish bullies, but encourages those involved in or touched by bullying to examine their own behaviors, leading to a better, safer community.
Some of your customers are being bullied right now, or are bullies themselves. And your customers are going to grow up to become your employees… and they will continue to be your customers. We are asking your help in creating upstanding citizens, strong employees and respectful customers.
We are working toward providing community immersions in your area. We attend a school for one week, speaking to students and helping teachers incorporate our material into their classrooms… but there is too much to do, and we want communities to help. It is time to understand that sole responsibility for the issue does not end at the school door.
During an immersion, we spend evenings in the community, teaching and training adults and student leaders to take a role in eliminating bully actions. We can also help your employees and managers to recognize the results of bullying, whether it occurs inside your doors or out on the street.
And so we turn to you. Please consider providing funding towards a community immersion in a school near your business. We want you to enjoy the fruits of a peaceful community – and we know you will.
